​The Littlies Clinic is a professional collaboration of psychologists whose area of special interest is in working with young children (babies to 5 year olds) alongside their parents. Over the course of working with new parents, we identified a need for a clinic that specifically supports young children who are struggling.

All children struggle at times which can be stressful for parents, for the child and for the family as a whole. Parents can feel lost in knowing what to do. Littlies Clinic psychologists work with young children together with their parents as a way of exploring and understanding what might be underlying their difficulties. 

With children's limited capacities to understand and communicate their feelings, their struggles often manifest in challenging behaviours (see list below), leaving parents unsure of what is actually going on.

At the Littlies Clinic, we aim to help children and their parents understand and navigate difficult feelings and experiences. We help parents learn ways of parenting that support the child's optimal development, and we help families function in healthier ways.

Common struggles include:
  • Feeding/eating, sleeping difficulties
  • Difficulties with toileting
  • Separation anxiety
  • Anger / emotional outbursts
  • Emotional dysregulation
  • Anxiety
  • Sadness and withdrawal
  • Fears, worries and overwhelm
  • Unusual/worrisome behaviours
  • Social difficulties and loneliness
  • Transition difficulties
  • Sibling rivalry, adjustment to new baby
  • Defiant behaviour
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma
